An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded German Movie Poster (measures 40 1/4" x 61 3/4" [102 x 157 cm]) (Learn More)

Des Meeres und der Liebe Wellen (literally translates to "The Waves of the Sea and Love"), the 1912 Max Obal German/Hungarian silent ocean sailing romantic love triangle melodrama short (about a captain's daughter who falls in love with a sailor but another sailor is jealous and his actions cause the ship to explode) starring Jan 'het Jagertje' Schilder, Lissi Nebuschka, and De Zaligmaker. Note that IMDB lists De Zaligmaker as a cast member but that translates to "The Savior" and is likely just a role from the film. The same is likely true of Schilder's "nickname". It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this German poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this partially German movie! Not only that, but we have never before auctioned ANYTHING from this movie!

Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II German poster! Virtually no German posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in Germany during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Also note that this German poster was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap.

Condition: fair to good. The poster is fragile and it has darkening, tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of most of the folds. Please bear its condition in mind before bidding on this incredibly rare poster.
