Important Added Info: Note that this script is the revised final draft from January 25, 1944 and the screenplay was written by Jay Dratler! THE SCRIPT WAS THE PERSONAL PROPERTY OF DARRYL F. ZANUCK It has "DZ" written on the cover and also has a long note on the first interior page, and also a long memo from Zanuck to Preminger on the interior back cover. Bound into the back of the script is a "memorandum". It says "Memorandum [on Revised Final Script of 1/25/44] [dictated by Mr. Zanuck" and below it is dated March 21, 1944". On the back of that page (which is printed on a heavy blue stock) is a list of people who were sent copies of this, which include Preminger, Mamoulian, the legal department, and four others. The memorandum itself is printed on ten single-sided pages of 20th Century-Fox stationery and is headed "TO MR. OTTO PREMINGER FROM DARRYL ZANUCK", and begins "Dear Otto: As I told you in our conference today, I am pleased with the present script of LAURA...". He goes on to say that "the character of Laura herself is flat and uninspired" and gives his suggestions on how to make the movie much better (and it takes him ten pages to do so!). The script was purchased from the Cinema Collectors memorabilia store in Los Angeles, one of the oldest film memorabilia shops in the country!

Condition: very good. The first interior page had a form that was signed by the person receiving the script and it had perforations in the bottom one-third of that page, and that form has been removed from that page (which is as intended, and is typical with such scripts). This was the way the studio kept track of who had these scripts! The top right corner of the first interior page has been diagonally clipped off, and also a thin strip at the bottom of that page, but it seems that this was intentionally done and only blank white paper was affected. Other than these defects and some minor wear around the edges, the script is in pretty nice condition!
